I would call this particular website the last website I did in my adolescence as a person who makes websites. These types of websites were the bread and butter for the division I was in, and there was always an enormous amount of focus on the design separate from the content. Scientists with Master’s degrees would put together the content as they saw fit, and I was just around to make it look pretty. My very next site would put content structure and development first, and then let those elements influence the layout.

 

So why include it in my portfolio if it is the epitome of everything that is wrong with developing websites? Because it looks good. Aesthetics – and in particular color – are usually not my strong point, but I feel like this design went beyond even my own expectations. Now if I could just figure out how to repeat that more often…
