The pieces are small enough to be kept in hand. This potential for the touch and closeness creates intimacy between the object and the beholder. As a potentially emotionally valuable object - it is a privileged to be able to carry it with oneself. It is attempting to be an anchor for feeling of calm and comfort associated with the good place of home.
