I have recently been creating more abstract pieces based around this idea of a whirlwind of emotion, encouraged by my own experiences of stress and intense emotion ( I work in hard sales). I was inspired by German Expressionism which includes exaggerated facial features, expression of pain and lots of emotion. I used oil pastels as I find this an effective and efficient way of getting my ideas of paper and I love the vibrancy of colour I can achieve so quickly. This second piece is one of my favourite pieces of art, I love the faces getting swallowed up by shaped and colours with a theme of stress and pain hidden underneath, extenuating how we usually drown out our own feelings.
