Greek Goddesses
Digital collages depicting three of the Greek Goddesses. Inspired by Alexander McQueen’s retrospective exhibition “Savage Beauty”.
Athena
Goddess of wisdom, war strategy and crafts. Her symbols were olive trees, armour, helmets and spears. Her sacred bird was the owl.
Artemis
Greek goddess of hunting. She was often depicted carrying a bow and arrow. The deer was her sacred animal.
Aphrodite
Goddess of love and beauty. She was born when Cronus cut off Uranus's genitals and threw them into the sea. She then arose through the sea foam. Her son was Eros, whose mischievous interventions in the affairs of gods and mortals caused bonds of love to form, often illicitly.
