Workshop facilitated by Invisible Playground. The goal was to create a street game based on landmarks or other features found outside in the streets of Zurich.
Our group created a game based on the SSIDs of WiFi hotspots found in a neighbourhood. Similar to "Räuber und Gendarm", a part of the players are being hunted by the others. In this game, the hunted are viruses that start to infect the organs (WiFi networks) of a human organism. Using walkie-talkies, they occasionally have to give their current position by announcing the name of the WiFi they're currently in.
The map of WiFi hotspots in the Langstrasse neighbourhood in Zurich, Switzerland, shown as vital organs of a human body.
The hunters have a simple map of some of the WiFi networks to be found in the neighbourhood, but without any indications of streets or other landmarks. They have to figure out how to read the map, track down the viruses and in the end catch them by encircling them.
