Science Rediscovered Education Brochure

Education Brochure
In 2007, I led the process to develop a leave-behind for the Museum of Science and Industry's $205-million capital campaign.

This brochure was developed with input from the fundraisers themselves, addressing their need for both a visual piece to help them describe the Museum's campaign and education programs to prospective donors a leave-behind that contained more information for the prospective donor to read. We combined the two into one piece.

The design, an accordian-style piece, was developed with the above-mentioned needs in mind. The front of the piece was highly visual, with brief headlines in large type. This side could be used as a visual prop in a meeting. The second side contained more detailed information for the donor to read later, assuming the meeting peaked their interest.
The headline copy on this piece mirrors our vision statement and depicts a core program at the Museum, where teenagers both learned science AND teach science to younger students.
The format of this accordian-style brochure created a two-sided piece. This side was highly visual, with large captions, so our fund-raisers could use it as a prop in meetings with prospective donors. The images each depict a core Museum education program and strategy and prompt discussion.
This closeup view showcases three of the Museum's four educational strategies - one each for teachers (professional development programs), students (labs for field trips) and everyday guests (special performances).
Side 02 of the brochure provided more descriptive language about the programs depicted visually on side 01.
The brochure's back cover invites you to "make a difference today" and provides contact information about how to do so. This brochure would generally be part of a larger packet of materials, which would include a pledge card, return envelope and possibly a proposal tailored to the individual donor.
