The 2nd annual DDi Student Window Challenge is held at Saks Fifth Ave. Six teams, half from LIM and half from FIT compete in a timed challenge to create a window display which best represents the Saks brand while working with a limted and randomly chosen box of materials and mannequins from various vendors.

I partnered with Kai Myoungsuk Kim and from 7:30 am to 5pm we designed and executed this window which was unfortunately not chosen as the winner but non the less resulted in us producing an amazing window that we are very proud of!

Our window took inspiration from the props given. We wanted to use as many props in the kit given but still portray a simple and clean window design. Using the materials we created a mosaic in the middle which to us represented a shattered mirror and then at the top deconstructed the materials to show each separately. Giving the coat-hangers some depth we varied the distance from the wall and mirrored them on each side. Contracting a chandelier out of different materials to create a unique balance with the lamp on the left of the window. Using a fabric given we wrapped the lamp which complemented BCBG Maxazria's outfit to the left.

Creating an asymmetrically balanced window that was clean and flattering was our ultimate goal.

Mannequins by Fusion, Clothing by BCBG Maxazria, Floor tiles by Centiva.
