Using an EMS Spectre, a 70s synthesizer that turns video and audio signals into shapes and colours, Signals was able to translate the diverse sounds generated by Hemlock's printers, presses, folders and binders into bold patterns used to commemorate their 50th anniversary. As a collection, these covers are a visual representation of the aural experience which is Hemlock's print floor—a graphic counterpart to the rhythmic thunder they’ve been producing for half a century.
