Feat. Early Modernism, Art Deco, German Expressionism, Retro Futurism, Memphis Style, and Pixel Art.
1. Objective: The objective of the project was to create posters based on design styles such as Early Modernism, Art Deco, German Expressionism, Retro Futurism, Memphis Style, and Pixel Art.
2. Approach. I wanted to combine contemporary subjects with the elements from each design style.

Early Modernism. The characteristics of Early Modernism is umber tones and faded colors along with simple shapes. I decided to design my homeland, Sweden, as the travel destination. Inspired by the northern of Sweden the poster shows the beautiful landscape of snow and nature which fits with the characteristics of Early Modernism

Art Deco. The characteristics of Art Deco is gradients, and geometrical elegant shapes with extreme differences between light and bold. I decided to design the cover of Aqua, which is a magazine for swimmers in Sweden.

German Expressionism. This design is characterized for its dark, bold, and expressive style. I decided to make a movie poster for Spongebob Squarepants, which ironically is the complete opposite genre to German Expressionism - silly, colorful, and happy.

Retro Futurism. The characteristics of this style is advanced technology, space travel, and planets. Similarly, Elon Musk has sent a highly advanced Tesla-car to Mars. I decided that Tesla would be a great representation for Retro Futurism.

Memphis Style. This design is famous for combining pop art, art deco, with geometrical and energetic patterns, shapes and color schemes. I decided to feature Beethoven in my music fest poster to emphasize the funky mix of styles.

Pixel Art. During this time period, the world was obsessed with the latest video games which included pixel art. I decided to make a mockup of the Nintendo game Ice Climbers. The game is about an eskimo who has to defeat the polar bears to find the stolen vegetables on the tip of the iceberg. However, in my design I changed the name of the game to Ice Killers and replaced the main character with Trump to show how his climate politics destroys the environment and kills the polar bears.
