For my Illustration for Publications class at SCAD, we were tasked with creating general illustrations for two of Plansponsor magazine’s recurring columns: Hot off the Press and Tools of the Trade.

Plansponsor is an established financial magazine that regularly showcases illustrators to bring their articles to life. Although the contents of the magazine are pretty serious, they want the opposite for their illustrations, leaning towards conceptual and fun ideas.

For the first recurring column, Hot off the Press, I decided to work with the concept of freshly baked pies. I wanted to make it dynamic and fun.

I also animated it into a gif!

For the second column, Tools of the Trade, I focused on a tool I’m very familiar with: the drawing tablet and pen. I reimagined people as ice skaters on the tablet surfaces, with their skating drawing lines across the screens.
