In the heart of Barrio Logan, an old neighborhood in San Diego, California with strong Mexican roots, where art and culture breathe in its streets, is La Gloriosa, Vecindario Vivo; a mixed-use development, where its loft apartments become large canvases for its residents to shape their own lifestyle and its commercial premises become meeting points and cultural enrichment for the community and the neighborhood.

At Cherry Bomb, we were commissioned to create the identity of the development. We propose to bring a new vision of Mexicanness to the new and old neighbors of Barrio Logan; a contemporary vision that evokes and pays tribute to the '40s; a very important decade for art and culture in our country, where art and bohemianism mixed and nurtured each other.

Our creative rationale is focused on paying tribute to the great female cultural figures of the time who often remain overshadowed by the omnipresent figure of Frida Kahlo (so present in the streets of Barrio Logan); all those great artists, photographers, actresses or poets, such as Nahui Ollin, Tina Modotti, Dolores del Rio, María Rivas Mercado, Lupe Velez, etc. Our work at La Gloriosa, Vecindario Vivo aims to bring and present the work and work of these great Mexican divas to an audience willing to know a culture different from their own.

Hope you like it ;)
