Using IKEA's mission statement, his table was created for small apartment owners.

"At IKEA our vision is to create a better everyday life for the many people. Our business idea supports this vision by offering a wide range of well-designed, functional home furnishing products at prices so low that as many people as possible will be able to afford them"

Living in a small apartment can be difficult, and moving to a new apartment is worse. Because each piece fits without screws or glue, It can also come apart to be stored or moved easily. Once the table top is removed the rest of the pieces slide out of place.
The shelves on the end allow for more storage within the kitchen or dining room. The open nature and multiple holes along the shelves allow light to shine through eliminating any dark shadows

This table was designed with IKEA in mind however, has no real affiliation with the company.
