Kinetic typography animation

Using After Effects I animated typography to an audio clip of my choice as part of a kinetic typography brief for college. I chose an interview from 1974 between the late, great boxer Mohammad Ali and Michael Parkinson. I enjoyed listening to Ali speak about how he psyches his opponents out before a fight. In the interview Ali is very animated and gestures frequently as he explains how you can mentally defeat an opponent before getting in the ring. I wanted to convey the energy and liveness in his voice throughout the type in the animation. He is a fast speaker and so I kept the text constantly moving, morphing and rotating as the sentences flowed. I chose the font IMPACT in a nod to old boxing posters of the late 20th century. The colour scheme of red, white and black was chosen to correspond with the colour of Ali's boxing shorts and gloves.
