Hanger/Holder Stand Light 2019
Objective: Design of a cozy home stand light for the balcony or any area in the house to hold items.
Location: Ideation started in University of Arts London short course then prototyped in Effat Fab Lab.
The daily actions were tracked and small issues of the day where identified.
I have come up with a knitting Balcony Stand light to hold all threads and knit with the ability to put the knitting sticks and pieces as well.
*The light stand can be placed anywhere in the house Not only the Balcony and can hang not only threads and knit sticks but also keys, hats, scarfs and cloths. But for a specific purpose it was made for knitting.
A technical drawing with 1:3 reflected the side, front and top view with the real draft measurements taken from human average length when sitting on a chair.
It has a natural cozy look for the house use. It uses natural wood for the stand core to imitate a tree.
Many Lamp covers where designed but the Glass white lamp cover that had vintage patterns was chosen for better lighting and easier cleaning as it may be in the balcony.
a Card Paper model was made using double faces of the shape then cutting it to shape a circular model to be more familiar with the shape and thickness of the core stand wood in proportion with the lamp cover.
The Light is smart where it turns on when the piece is removed from one shelf ( piece in use shelf ) and turned Off when the piece is in the shelf.

A Blue Foam model was then made using 8 foam boards (5cm thickness) with 1:1 scale dimensions.
The foam boards were cut to the shape and then glued 4 layers together to get thickness.
Then the Foam was smoothed and filed to create a circular shape.
The Lamp cover was created with void circles glues in top of each other then smoothed and files to get an empty inner space for the lamp.
