This project is was given to me by my commercial art teacher. We watched a ted talk about what makes a good flag and learned the five principles of flag design. The five principles of flag design are: Keep it simple, include meaningful symbolism, 2-3 base colors, no lettering, be distinctive. My job was to make two flags, One for my city, and another for my school. The first flag was made for Jacksonville Florida. The blue on the sides represent the St. Johns river and the ocean which surrounds florida. The arrow is to represent the timucuan indians, which resided in the Jacksonville area. The bird is modeling a mockingbird, Florida's state bird. The second flag represents my school. The " X " across the center of the flag is a top down view of the main building at my school. Under the representation of my school building is 7 icons to represent each academy of my school, from left to right, Agriscience, Communications, Early child care, Automotive, Aviation, Culinary and robotics. The colors used are my school colors, Blue and silver.
