Salamandra salamandra salamandra

Salamandra salamandra salamandra (common name: fire salamander) is an amphibian urodel belonging to the Salamandridae family.
Easily recognizable for its black color with yellow spots, on its skin it has glands that secrete mucus, which has a bactericidal function.
It's advisable not to handle them without wearing plastic or latex gloves (but without powder).
All photos were taken in northern Italy, in the Regional Park of "Montevecchia" and "Valle del Curone".
