Union: Dual-Purpose Repellent

Union - Dual Purpose Insect Repellent
NUS, Division of Industrial Design (DID)

Project Brief:
As the growing number of dengue cases over recent years, consumers especially families with children are taking additional measures to protect themselves at outdoors. We decided to look into current insect repellent in the market and noticed the lack of a circular business model. As a result, consumers make multiple purchases of repellent products ranging from short-term to long-term protection from disposables patches to indoor diffuser.

Hence, we asked ourselves, how might we create a consumer repellent to be more versatile that caters to personal and shareable needs while still considering for our environment?

Among the existing repellent products, we noticed a similar entity in aerosol-spray and diffusing repellent- liquid.

The dual functionality integration aims to reframe the current disposable model of insect repellent and reduce consumer waste for better care of the environment.

Switching between the personal and zone application of repellent would only require a simple 180° rotation to its opposite end.
