The light above the heating element changes from green to red as the water gets up to temperature. The kettle's body is made primarily of borosilicate glass.

The base of the kettle is a rippling wave-form that increases in wave frequency towards its center. The heating element has the same shape, allowing both it and the kettle to nest together comfortably.
