DIEGO MORATALLA → Kingdom of Heaven
October 24th, 2019. The Spanish fascist leader Francisco Franco is exhumed from his tomb in the Valley of the Fallen (45 km from Madrid), a megalomaniac mausoleum built by prisoners of the dictatorship. It has taken 44 years of liberal democracy for the remains of the dictator not to stay in the same place where rest more than 33,000 people killed in the Civil War and by the regime between 1936 and 1975. The Valley of the Fallen, converted into the purgatory of the dictatorship, can now become the Kingdom of Heaven, a place for peace and historical memory against fascism.
