Turtle Ship Investments Branding

Turtle Ship Project Intro
We're always excited to get projects which are different and challenge our design and creativity skills. This project was very unique which really stretched the horizons of creative design for a Property / Real Estate Company.

Turtle Ship Investments we're looking for a brand which tied into their focus of culture, strategy and discipline. It was very important for them to have a brand identity which embodied the design of the Korean Turtle Ship,  a warship that was used intermittently by the Royal Korean Navy during the Joseon dynasty from the early 15th century up until the 19th century.

What made this project even more exciting was that Turtle Ship Investments already had a very strong concept in mind. Which mean't we could focus double the energy on the creative part of the brand identity creation.

Before heading into the design process we had to understand more about their brand personality, exploring into their business story, mission, messaging, market positioning and in particular the clientele and audience that was being targeted.

The brand had to serve one main primary audience, investors.

When you're building a brand with investors being a primary focus, it's vital to ensure the design has a strong and memorable impact. Investors can come across many companies and branding is a way to really grab their attention and take you seriously. Companies that fail to have a strong brand struggle to even get past the barrier of trust because a well-designed professional brand introduces you. It's like the first impression at a job interview. You don't want to be turning up with your buttons undone, hair a mess and laces open. It says a lot about the character.

After we had strategy in place, there was swift agreements on the brands approach, intentional and specific design in order to achieve the correct brand awareness needed to create the perfect brand to achieve market fit.

Below you see the very first conceptual designs of Turtle Ship Investments brand mark. We focused on creating the all important Korean Turtle Ship.
From here we went to experiment with some brand colours and a blend of lime green and sea blue was the preferred selection.
For the typography it was important that we got the cultural aspect included with the fonts. For this we went through a few asian inspired typefaces which we're sharp but also bold.
The final selected typface was YOZAKURA regular.
After three rounds of drafts we we're able to come to the finalised design shown below.
We also had a final secondary and tertiary variation of the logo which will have it's own individual uses.
Along with the brand identity design we also designed some collateral material such as business cards and an investment brochure.
We've used the Turtle Ship Investments branding project as one of our featured projects. As part of the feature we've created a stylescape, which is presented below.
Both 9 Designs and Turtle Ship investments were extremely pleased with the project outcome and turn around time!

With this project in particular there was a lot of new learning especially with the cultural focus and application. It was exciting to be part of a project that was not only so forward thinking but also appreciated the aesthetics and attention to detail in the designs.
