BorgWarner: James Maxwell

In 1865 James Clerk Maxwell published the “A Dynamical Theory of the Electromagnetic Field”. In it he demonstrated that electric and magnetic fields travel through space as waves moving at the speed of light. It led to the discovery of radio waves. He formulated a series of equations that formed the basis of classical electromagnetism. He researched colour vision and produced the first colour photograph. Among other things his discoveries helped usher in the era of modern physics and quantum mechanics.

Creative Brief
Design a series of wall murals that decorate interior spaces inspired by famous scientists and the folks at BorgWarner

Process
After initial interviews and research a design strategy was conceived to guide the colour, style and message of each piece. The strategy was to combine simplicity with the complex and produce vibrant works that define the mood of the space. Sketches were produced that outlined the direction of the composition followed by vector artwork in Illustrator. The vector artworks was then vinyl printed for wall installation.
