ABOUT PROJECT:

Music plays an important role of our world, through the creativity of creating and listening to music we discover ourselves and frame a new world within the environment. Industrial designers, year three student we were required to design a Bluetooth speaker inspired by a design detail that has been thoroughly research. This detail is to help us understand form and to give us a freedom to manipulate the form so we can create/design a Bluetooth speaker out of it.

ABOUT PRODUCT:

“Bongo” is a Bluetooth speaker that was inspired from a detailed shape of a button of speaker shell with two oval overlapping next to each other. Through sketching and manipulating the form of the two ovals by prototyping, Bongo Bluetooth speaker was created. The name “Bongo” was given to the Bluetooth speaker because of its form, where two cylindrical shapes are connected by seemingly rectangular prism.

Bongo is made up of five components excluding the shell. It consists of a full range speaker driver that is 76mm in diameter, with a passive radiator that gives it a good bass boost. The built in equalizers on the motherboard gives the Bongo a crisp sound that can enlighten the atmosphere of your room for 15hours because of its long lasting battery life.

Bongo is a portable Bluetooth speaker that you can be carried in and outdoors. The speaker is covered by durable wire-type cloth mesh and reinforced by rubber surrounds which keep the speaker intact. The Bluetooth buttons and volume controls are located at the front of the speaker for easy adjustment with additional inputs such as USB and Aux ports that are located at top of the speaker.

PRODUCTION PROCESS:

Bongo Bluetooth speaker will be mass produced, the body will be made out of ABS Plastic with a process of injection moulding. It will available in different of the South African flag. The colours of the body should be contrary to the colours of the mesh e.g. blue body and black mesh . The mesh will be trimmed according to Speaker frames.
