PROJECT OUTLINE
This project was centered around the development of a portable Bluetooth Speaker and aimed to simultaneously be functional and desirable. There was a large focus around using form study to aid the development in the initial stages of the process. As designers, it can become extremely difficult to design a product that is so familiar to us. Creating inspiration boards disconnects the conscious and subconscious mind with what we think a product should look like and how we think it should perform. Instead of instinctively designing speakers, forms were manipulated until a structure, that had potential to function as a Bluetooth Speaker, was developed. This method of working removes the limitations and restrictions set on creativity and helps in generating a product that is more desirable and, in turn, differentiates the product from what already exists in the market.
