Human Rights Makerlab / Video & Website

A week of workshops - What happend?
In 2012 we took part in a project to raise awareness and knowledge about the human rights carta. We set up a website and made a couple of videos to publish on a daily basis. The idea was to document the atmosphere and inform about the makerlab human rights project. The project itself was a collaboration with the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Auswärtiges Amt) and InterInstitute as a part of the DMY Berlin Design Festival at Tempelhof. Within a week, the makerlabs many workshops explained different do-it-yourself solutions and hacks to solve every day problems. All where connected to human right ideas or to point out problematic situations worldwide. Anyone could join, take part, suggest projects or ask for help in on ongoing projects.

The aim is to spread knowledge about the human rights, spread the logo and leave free to be transformed and with it to start discussions about the current situation, worldwide. So share these information with anyone you may wish to.

The sign of the "Blue Hand"
The logo is free to download, remix or transform. From the website humanrightslogo.net:

"THE UNIVERSAL LOGO FOR HUMAN RIGHTS
From more than 15,300 submissions from 190 countries, an international jury together with the internet community selected a universal symbol for human rights. The Human Rights Logo and any related material can now be used by everyone at no cost for the promotion and protection of human rights."

The Makerlab Journal
During the week a team of students produced a daily journal. Set up as an open workshop, the making of a newspaper was explained from concept to finished journal. A sample is below, the archive of all issues is linked.
