Balleny Islands - Wonders of the Southern Ocean
This group of three tiny islands, Sturge, Buckle and Young, deep in the Southern Ocean, close to Antarctica and the Ross Sea, are among the most remote and unforgiving places on Earth.
In summer haunted by countless storms, in winter deep-frozen in eternal darkness, inside hundreds of kilometres of ice and snow around Antarctica.
In March 2017 I was lucky to become among the few humans to visit this remote place on a rare calm and clear day.
It's blueish beauty took my breath away...
