NORTH DAKOTA FLAG REDESIGN
Research

For my moodboard I wanted to find good inspiration to help me design my flag and find images/symbols I planned to include in my flag design.
Sketches

For my sketches I chose to mainly make with designs that kept the Eagle, while also adding in more details that represent North Dakota.
First Draft

For my first draft I chose to change it from my sketches as I had thought of an idea I liked more than my sketches, which lead me to making a simple flag with the Eagle being the prominent part and it carrying wheat.
Final Draft
Artist Explanation
For my flag I chose to remake the flag of North Dakota because I have family roots in North Dakota. I chose the colors of blue and yellow for the flag as the blue represents the North Dakota sky and the yellow represents a farm's field, which symbolizes North Dakota's agriculture. The blue color also represents perseverance and justice, while the yellow also means happiness, as North Dakota is ranked as one of the happiest states in the Union. The wheat is being carried by the Eagle, which also represents North Dakota's large agricultural industry, and also represents one of the main crops of North Dakota as well. I chose the Eagle in the middle of the flag as it's America's mascot and symbolizes freedom, determination, and strength. The Eagle in the middle is black as the color black represents strength and power, which describes the Eagle perfectly and is also one of its main colors. What I found challenging about making this flag was finding the right symbols and colors to use for the flag which would represent North Dakota.
