Designing with Letters or Glyphs

The aim of this project was to explore typography as art. I placed different glyphs on an artboard in Adobe Illustrator. I adjusted the sizes and placement of the glyphs in order to create the artwork above.

I created this piece using Stempel Garamond glyphs. This typeface has serifs and different stroke weights that give it variety. The serifs play off the curves in interesting ways.

I created this piece using Neue Haas Grotesk. After using the serif font and choosing random letters, I decided to be more intentional with this piece. I used the letters in my oldest sister's name along with the number one since she is the oldest child. I feel that this piece is the better of the two since I created it more intentionally.
