The concept is inspired by macro shots of butterflies, my task was to create a digital version of their wings and to animate them in an interesting way. Alot of time was spent on developing the structure of the tiny scales, they had to follow the direction of the wing without colliding with each other. That was made with X-particles in Cinema 4D using flow fields and wind deformers. The wing was then rendered in super high resolution in different color schemes so the agency (Leon & chris) could use them in as many ways as possible.
