Design as Observation

I am interested in the collection I am starting because they all have interesting colors, patterns and textures. I chose the tissue box for the collection because I liked the pattern of the black and white swirl marks on the box. I also liked the contrast between the blue background and the yellow swirls. The tissue box is unique in this collection because it is the only object that doesn’t have a texture. I chose the pen because I like how the grip has a light texture and the inside looks like it has a deeper texture. I also chose it because I liked the way it looked when light went through it. I chose the water bottle for the collection because I liked it’s texture and the fact that it is transparent. When a different color light was shined through, the texture created interesting lighting. I also liked how it looked when uncolored light was shined through the top and out the bottom. This made the bottom look like an alien ship coming in for landing. I chose the llama light for the collection because I liked how some of its colors looked different and more interesting on camera. I chose the keys because, unlike the rest of the collection, I liked how they reflected light. I chose the loofah because I liked how all of it’s holes made unique shading on it.

In the first collage, I used swirls on a tissue box, keys, a loofah, and a plastic llama to make a winged creature. The swirls form the creature’s ‘head’. The keys and loofah form its wings. The plastic llama forms its body. Above are storm clouds also made of plastic llama. Lightning made out of keys shoots out of the clouds.

In the second collage, I used images of a water bottle, pen, keys, loofah, and plastic llama to make a creature. The creature walks on a field made of plastic llama. Above is a sky made from a water bottle.

In the third collage, I used swirls from a tissue box to make a serpent. It has horns made out of keys. Its eyes are made out of water bottles. Its teeth are made out of pens. It is flying near clouds made of plastic llama, rain made out of a water bottle, and mountains made out of loofah. In the distance is a field made of plastic llama.
