Afrikaburn 2017 Festival Identity
Afrikaburn is the largest regional Burning Man event in Africa and takes place annually in the Tankwa Karoo desert in South Africa. I had the pleasure of designing the various visual assets that accompanied the 2017 event, themed "PLAY". For the main event artwork I opted to create an illustration that captured the magical feeling of sunset or "golden hour" during the festival, with as many details, playful characters, callbacks and easter eggs as I could fit into a single image.
For the design of the Survival Guide I opted to take a collaborative approach - in line with the theme of the event - and employed the help of various talented local designers and artists who generously volunteered their time and contributed artworks to the design of the booklet.
