The projects focus to develop a minimum of six studios and dwellings of about 100 square metres each. The purpose of this combination was to allow artist to come, with their families, and work and live in the same area, suplying them with the tools needed. The given site is situated in western Gothenburg (Sweden) and is called Röda Sten. Röda Sten is a quite rough waste area with surroundings of a more industrial typology. The only building on the suite, besides the Göta Älv-bridge, is a former power-suply-building today containing a gallery and other art-oriented activites.

My project shows a series of studios and dwellings forming to longer organic movements, framing the area and giving it a stronger focus towards the waterfront. The dwellings are formed out of, for the time being, quite complex spacial realationships highlighting the spaces in between as much as the spaces them selfs.

The bending curve creates highly varying spatial experiences when moving between, and through, the volumes. These spacial variants also allowed each dwelling to have uniterupted sightlines directly towards the water. Each studio works as an individual but shares a public (for the artists) entrance where they also share a minor office, simply to encourage spontaneous meetings and interactions. The entrance also allows to open up between the studios, and therefore making it possible to realize larger exhibitions through out the area.
