The assignment was to develop a wood-fired-sauna (about 40 square metres) somewhere on the specified site in Härryda.

With muses like the turqish hamam and japaneese simplicity, I formed an underground spa. The rounder shapes are formed to encourage and tribute the nordic tradition of the sauna. Also, the functions are based on a more literarly translation of the overall process involved when entering a sauna. First, you clean yourself, then you enter the relax-area where you have something to drink before you jump in the 0-degree-pool before you enter the sauna itself. This layout creates the possibility to repeat the cooling- and warming-phases without disturbing the ones who are in more need of a room temperatured relax.

The sauna is situated in a dense forest, where as the cylinders - connecting the underground level with the outside - act as imitations and creates a new dimension. A dimension which implies some form of taqtile shape of the overall mystique regarding a darker forrest and one of the nordic-region's longest and strongest traditions.
