THE WHITE T-SHIRT PROJECT

THE WHITE T-SHIRT PROJECT

An iconic staple of casual wear, the white t-shirt project explores design principles at the scale of the body. It was created as a part of a course at New York University.

DESIGN PROMPT:
FOLLOW THE PRINCIPLE OF 'CONFORMITY' WHEN ALTERING A WHITE T-SHIRT. THE DESIGNER HAS TO BE ABLE TO 'WEAR' IT

RESTRICTIONS:
NO OTHER MATERIALS OTHER THAN A WHITE T-SHIRT, WHITE THREAD OR GLUE/STARCH IS PERMITTED.
THE T-SHIRT CAN BE CUT, BURNED, OR TORN.
My torso was cast in plaster and 'wore' the white t-shirt. The shirt itself was drenched in a combination of glue, flour, and water and molded onto the plaster cast. The t-shirt conforms, but onto the shell of a body.
