Kimaru Chan (Elephant Shrew)

Elephant shrews are seldom heard of in Asia, their "anti-social" behaviour doesn't help. However, they are lovey-dovey rodents as they live in pairs. Although the word "Elephant" may suggest that they are big, they are in fact about the same size of the Syrian hamster. The distinct features of an elephant shrew is it's big ears and long snout which enables them to detect small insects. Their diet includes small insects such as grasshoppers, fruits and leaves. They are curious by nature .
.
How the name Kimaru Chan comes about
.
1. 奇丸・きまる (kimaru).
.
奇 (ki)- kanji for curiosity, strangeness. Which is one of the first kanji that came to our mind based on the elephant shrew's traits and characteristics; which gives an air of curiosity and strangeness.
.
丸 (maru)- kanji for roundness, circle, and usually a suffix for names in Japanese. Also one of the few kanji’s came to mind, due to the elephant shrew's rounded body. The name ‘maru’ also gives off an air of cuteness due to being round-ish. .
In Katakana (cutesy foreign name) : キマル ちゃん .

We give Kimaru chan a body tone of red and grey combination.
