Idea of a game that will take place simultaneosly in two or more cities was in our heads for long time. And suddenly! - opportunity has came. We were involved in art project between Berlin (Germany) and Łódź (Poland) and decided to add city game. 

 

What was most important for us was to create experience of doing things together with team mates from other city. So we decided to make players cooperate often and intesively. We planned to make teams that would consist of players from Łódź and Berlin. We made many simulations in our mind how it will work out. What we found out was that the worst thing that can happen on city game is when players got stuck and lose their fun because of some ideas in mind of game creators. And we didn't wanted to do this. We changed approach and the final output was that teams have to cooperate between cities but we're not defining with whom (what team) they should cooperate. Game became more flexible, and fun survived!

Structure of game was built by 5 "windows" - places where videoconference was going all the time, and players could connect with other city. Some challenges for players needed to be done in cooperation with other team, some could be done only when someone from other city did something else. Challenges for players explored topics of cities - so players in Berlin were finding out what is Łódź and players from Łódź were trying to discover what they didn't know about Berlin.
