-Bretagne(1999-2016)was a Goldren Retrever rescue dog who searched for survivors at Ground Zero after the 911 attacks. Later she participated in rescue efforts after Hurricanes Katrina and Ivan. Denise Corliss was her owner-handler. After her retirement, she continued her service as a reading dog at local elementary school.
-Hachikō was a Japanese Akita remembered for his remarkable loyalty to his owner, Hidesaburō Ueno, for whom he continued to wait for over 9 years following Ueno’s death. 
-Bobbie the Wonder Dog, a Scottish Collie, who traveled 3000 miles on his own to return home to Silverton, Oregon after he was lost while his owners were visiting family in Indiana.
