ICOS:
Website redesign
I helped the Integrated Carbon Observation System (ICOS), a European research infrastructure measuring greenhouse gases, to plan and design a combination of two of its existing websites – the main ICOS website and the Carbon Portal, which contains data and tools for researchers.
To ensure that the new website would serve its purpose, I proposed a three-stage iterative process:
    1. user research with 7 existing users, to understand how users are currently using the site
    2. user interface design, to try out solutions with a low-fidelity prototype
    3. visual design, to apply branding and style.
The resulting designs bring together insights from user research, analytics, and the organisation's communication objectives. During the user interface design phase, I added solutions to support the journeys of the various user groups through the site, as well as to improve readability and overall usability.

During the redesign, ICOS was renewing its brand colours, and wanted to apply them to the new designs. The cyan provides an elegant, clean basic colour for navigation and highlights, while the magenta adds a splash of freshness in particular details of the design.
