Over time, interior design trends fall out of popularity. Here are a few trends that are overused and outdated:

- Excessive plants. Adding a plant here and there helps the home feel alive. However, too many plants in a home can hide features, create a sense of clutter, and make a room look like a jungle.

- Chevron prints. In the design world, chevron has become an overused pattern. Once popular, it was used for everything from rugs and furniture to pillows and curtains. Now, designers are opting for tropical and geometric patterns.

- Brass. When too much brass is used in a room, it quickly becomes redundant and overwhelming.

- Millennial pink. This blend of peach and pink rapidly overtook home decor in 2018. The color just as quickly fell out of popularity in favor of neutrals, blues, and yellows. Pastel colors, in general, are becoming less popular among interior designers.
