IMAGING LAB SCANS
As part of our exercise, we had to create experimental scans and
come up with photos that are relevant to our briefs
Brief

Background:
1. Singapore is globally recognized as one of Asia’s most liveable cities.
Our clean and green city-state is a source of national pride for Singaporeans.
However in our living spaces, there are occasional unpleasant
qualities and a lack of civic-mindedness that still exist.

2. As Singapore is a densely populated environment, noise generated by
the community tends to be more audible at night. In some estates, it is
not uncommon for noise to be generated at HDB common spaces
(e.g. void decks, basketball courts and multipurpose sports hall)
at night or in the wee hours of the day. This then disturbs
individual residents, some of whom may be more sensitive to noise.

The Challenge:
What can we do to remind individuals making noise on the impact of their behaviours and encourage them to be more considerate? Or how can we highlight to the more sensitive residents that there will always be some congregational noise and encourage them to be more tolerant? Ultimately, how can we make our neighbourhoods vibrant, harmonious and comfortable? Work this out and propose a product, service, or a communication campaign to meet this challenge.

Target Audience:
You are required to research and identify a specific housing estate
in Singapore that has congregational noise issues.
Process
The lecture began with the process on how the scans can be done.
While scanning, he placed his hand at various spots of the scanner
and show how you can experiment to create different outcomes.
Outcome
Once my lecturer taught us the thought process, my group went out to
experiment on our own by adjusting the different dpi before scanning
and rearranging various kind of items with different sorts of colors
to see how it will affect the final scan.
Reflection
This was an intriguing project to me because the mediums are not stagnant and static. You can feel the motion in the picture without the aids of moving graphics. I would definitely try out this style of imaging in future works.
