23:00 is a fully animated music video made in collaboration with musician ben madlinger, for his debut album. 

This first person, non linear narrative focuses on stillness, the connectivity of the memories, and the spaces we carry with us. Each scenes borrows an element from another, as a tangible relic (a flower plucked from the field), or as a reminder, the way the light leaks through a window, yet it is unclear the way these sequence of events has actually played out. An emptiness haunts these spaces despite, and perhaps due to their slowness, and quiet color. 

23:00 was made using a combination hand-drawn Photoshop and After Effects animation techniques, often going between the two.  I illustrated and isolated the background and elements of each scene, and either cel animated each frame of the moving parts in photoshop, or took the file into after effects to add motion. Some scenes contained both; the tree shadow in the window was done frame by frame, while the slow pan was created in AE. I emphasize experimentation in process as a heavy component in my work, so after creating and animating each scene, I chose to treat the clips as "footage," to edit together in an unplanned narrative, rather than storyboarding the sequence. I tried to simulate a tonal, but hazy realism, with a heavy use of depth of field/blur, added grain, and continual re-processing of the image, in an attempt to reach a level of intimacy between the viewer and the first person perspective in the scene.
