As a response to Michael Wolf’s documentation of earth god tables, the recreation allows viewers to examine the spirit table in detail which most of us would have ignored in daily life. It also serves as a scornful depiction of the threat that these old customs and rituals face: 好景不常 "nothing good lasts forever" being forgotten no matter how much significance it holds in the past: the inevitable loss.
