memories (recuerdos) – TIFF short film
Childhood memories can be a blur, becoming part of a vague narrative you’re never entirely sure is true.
But what if they’re all you have left of the ones you love?
This film was part of the TIFF Next Wave 2019 Film Festival – Young Creators (25 and under) roster.
I made this short in response to the increasing amount of children getting separated from their families at the U.S - Mexico border. I have relatives in the States and it's scary to think that their immigration status could determine whether or not they get to stay with their loved ones. There's a lack of closure and uncertainty that accompanies these situations and I wanted to explore those feelings with this film.
