A few experimental portraits of my partner; he usually edits all of my 'professional' writing when I need him to and gives me his opinion on layouts for stuff. I have a habit of over-writing and being repetitive or wording things weird since my mind seems to work a bit differently than most peoples. He never opposes me painting or drawing his portrait which is nice when I have no one else to borrow.
'Leo with Abstract Roses' | acrylic on watercolor paper | 12" x 18" | 2019 | I used a photo and collaged roses on top and did some minor digital editing before painting.
'Strange Fishes' | Mixed Media; pastel, gouache, watercolor, various inks | 12" x 18" | 2019 | Same as acrylic I used a photo reference and then collaged and digitally edited the colors-- I like how psychedelic this looks, even though he is far from that type of person.
'Leo with Small Flowers' | Mixed Media; Oil, Acrylic | approx 3' x 4' | I enjoyed painting this portrait, truthfully it started out as a pain especially because of the scale I had to render everything at. The farther I got into it and the more invested I was the more I gave in to the process and I came out with something I would not call perfect (for myself) but is still nice and I would call it a success. I did no digital editing or collage with this I drew the shapes and motifs as they came to me and the colors came out fine for being done at whim.
