I have been super excited to try the Fauxsaics concept, and this three-word verse "Pray without Ceasing" (which was one of the day's challenges from #30DaysofBibleLettering) provided the perfect opportunity. The process was time-consuming (as might be expected) but was super fun in an almost therapeutic way.

The process started with a rough sketch concept. Next I brought the sketch into Illustrator and adjusted the grid to define the size of my tiles.

Then came drawing all of the type, little tiles (done in Illustrator), and patterns. Color was next, then Illustrator effects to make the tiles look more uneven.

Finally I brought the whole thing into Photoshop to add texture and depth. The process turned out more digital than analog. I'd love to try this again and draw the tiles by hand instead.
