The Flower Vase
The 'Flower vase' is an outcome of the course Ceramic Design-1 held at Holon Institute of Technology, Israel during the Student Exchange Program, 2018-19. The course was an introduction of the mold making and slip casting process with the brief to create a single flower vase

1. The single flower Vase

2. Modifications

3. PROCESS

The Plaster of Paris (POP) model of the vase is made of 10 pieces of half hexagonal arches joined together. Then this model is used to make a two piece mold for the slip casting process of the vase (a vent tube is provided on one of the mold pieces to prevent vacuum during casting).
After the two piece POP mold is used for slip casting, a stoneware slip is used for the casting process.
After the vase is dry, it is bisque fired at 900 degree Celsius. The fired vase is then dipped into a white glossy opaque glaze recipe and is fired at 1180 degree Celsius.
