The original application available to Coloradans applying for health insurance and help paying costs was cumbersome and only available in paper; each application had to be printed and mailed or hand delivered. The State of Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing updated the form using a color-coded visual system and simple step-by-step format to help the user navigate the process with ease. The final 46-page document is also available in digital format allowing members to download the form and fill it out by computer, making it more accessible to people with disabilities.
