Interview with Marco P. , a resident of Biella: “Biella is a cold city . Climatically is surprising: in the fall you are immersed in the fog. Winters are cold and in summer there are only mosquitoes. The weather modify social life of young people. Biella is a very rich city with entertainment situations which reflect the level of this bourgeois city. Trendy cocktail bar, expensive and very selective. It’s rare to find a self-organized concert for example. The public transport service has never been improved in Biella and people move by car during the weekend, but the police control the street and it’s always present. Everybody has a friend who has been disqualified from driving. There is a sort of psychosis in the city. Clubs offer only commercial music. You can know the face of everyone, but you don’t know the name. The result is that boredom is rampant and flattens the people, who haven’t initiative and self-organization.”
Instead of adding material on the surface, the idea is to take away the material that already exists.
That’s an ecological way to express my idea on small towns, and Biella in particular, after I’ve been talking with guys who live in Biella and in the Pistoletto Foundation.
