CHALLENGE
A FinTech start-up approaches us with premise they have found a gap in the peer to peer lending space. They want to build a solution to capture a targeted market that has annual sales of $370 billion. The need a name, a brand and a product for their service.
OBSTACLES
We identified an initial audience and conducted User and Expert interviews to deeply understand their life, decisions and challenges. As the saying goes, “You have to walk a mile in a man’s shoes in order to understand him.” Building an empathetic model of our consumer was crucial to the success of this new product to market. What we found was a “trust” gap between consumers and lenders.
How do we make the process personal and built on a foundation of trust? With a handshake, of course.
SOLUTION
We are focusing on a consumer-friendly application and connected experience that creates a halo of trust and respect around the peer to peer moment.
We are conducting primary research with a focus on user interviews, expert interviews, group sessions and surveys. The findings will help us shape the user product journey and the user service journey. In parallel we are prototyping a demo experience to use as a MVP for sales, tech and design.
The technology stack is PhoneGap, AWS Cognito, AWS RDS Aurora and iBeacon. Working closely with the Developers and the Architects, we created a mobile-first solution that is fully cloud-based, focused squarely on business logic and synergies from external services (asset valuation, loan servicing, counter-party rating, etc.) by leveraging an API gateway. AWS Cognito will handle User Sign-Up, Authentication and Management.
