After a 6 month period with my head down in Cinema 4d and X-Particles, as the summer approaches, I returned to my beloved Fujifilm camera.
In this project, I hung a small flashlight on a string attached to a light stand. I then swung the string and shot a long exposure for anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes. Some variations also make use of fairy string lights.
I've been trying to envision how to take what I've learned about trails, glowing particles and 3d experimentation and see how I can carry that over into my photography.
I like that in photography rendering is much less technical than in 3D. Sure, lights and camera still need to be properly accounted for, but the simple act of taking a picture leads to a photo-realistic rendering by default–even with poor light. No render times or graphic cards to worry about, just a press of the shutter and light comes into the lens and onto the sensor and gets recorded like magic.
