University of Michigan - Doctors of Tomorrow

This video tells the story of the work the University of Michigan Medical School and Michigan Medicine are doing to inspire future doctors and leaders in healthcare (in this case, students from Cass Tech High School in Detroit, MI.)

Due to the timing of the project, the bulk of the filming took place over two distinct time periods. We were able to catch one class of students just before graduation during their capstone projects, and then had to wait four months for school to begin with the next batch of students.

For this project, I shot and conducted the three main storytelling interviews (Michigan Medical students) and a lot of the capstone project footage from Cass Tech (along with Bob Felts).

Simi Atal and Jake Weber were instrumental in getting the second phase of the project filmed (the Cass Tech students at UM and coursework in Detroit) as well as getting each of the edit drafts in place and refined.

In the end, this video helped raise awareness for the project and validated the research behind a much larger medical education initiative at the University of Michigan.
